Dear Neil,
Just thought I’d drop you a
line about the heifer you
bought for us last October.
We got lot 8. She did a good
job.
We took her to the Charolais
Junior Show in Texas the end
of June. She placed 2nd in 3
div. 18 class. My
granddaughter showed her. My
son Keith took the 3 girls
down to Texas.
They showed in the SD
Spotlight in Huron the end
of July. This is in place of
Special Shows at the State
Fair. She placed 2nd in her
class but stood first the
whole show til the very end.
Then we had our county fair
– she was champion 4-H
breeding heifer (overall).
Then we took her to the
Turner County Fair, Parker,
SD, the best county fair in
SD. My granddaughter showed
her in open class. She won
her class and stood 3rd
overall. This was tough, we
had Kroupa and DeJong in
this class (blacks).
Then we went to the South
Dakota State Fair. In the
Charolais Show she stood 2nd
in her class. Her class
winner was Reserve overall.
In FFA she stood 4th overall
in all breeds. In class she
beat the heifer that beat
her before.
She also stood 3rd overall
in the Charolais Junior Show
at the state fair.
I weighed her the other day
– 1360#.
I am sending you a picture
of her. I thought she looked
pretty good.
